Pivot Bali is an interactive forum, focused on holistic sustainable change in the fashion industry, supporting artisans and sustainable innovation.
Philosophy
Pivot Bali stands for:
Valued and supported artisans and makers
Design that is positive for the earth and people
Community and collaboration
Indonesia has a rich culture and history of artisan production, from Songket weaving and batik, to exquisite jewelry making. However, traditional skills and beautiful works are being lost and devalued by mass fashion production.
Pivot Bali takes a close look at the importance of slow fashion and artisan economy, and showcases both traditional works and contemporary artisan collaborations from Bali and further afield in Indonesia.
Can we change the way we work and effectively value the skills of artisans?
Why is slow fashion important?
How can slow fashion and consumption sustain and evolve tradition in a contemporary market?
Angga and Cecile from The Bali Curator, Natali Tjahjadi from CV Widya Triguna and Marina Chahboune, Closed Loop Fashion

Impact
The fashion industry has not been sustainable for some time, sacrificing the health of the environment and people for profit. The Covid-19 crisis brings a new set of challenges for garment workers, artisans and those businesses that support them, and highlights the urgent need to change the system of how things are made and valued.
This event seeks to support artisan makers and share knowledge while working together as a community to support each other.
A percentage of event ticket sales will be used to support artisans in Indonesia directly affected by Covid-19, distributed through the artisan collective Meet the Makers.
100% of vendor sales go to the business or artist , helping to keep their artisans employed or providing revenue directly to the maker.
Donations to Meet The Makers Indonesia
Meet The Makers is a movement of artists, artisans, designers and art lovers who support and promote craft as art on a national scale.
Many artisans in Indonesia have been affected by Covid-19 and are in need of support in order to continue their craft and provide for their families.
A portion of all ticket sales from Pivot Bali will be donated to help support the artisans in their network. If you would like to make an additional direct donation please email us at kajimundo@gmail.com.
