HOW TO USE FOR PRINTING
Decide how much paint/ink you want to make, i.e how much binder your would like to use. Take note of this amount.
Measure out your pigment, starting amount around 6% to the amount of binder. Add or reduce your pigment amount depending on your desired intensity of color.
Don’t add more than 12% pigment to fabric binding medium, it will be too dry.
3. Add a few drops of water to the pigment to wet it and stir through. Add in the Kaji Mundo Fabric binder a little at a time, blending well. A glass muller can be used for this process, or you can stir through in a container or small bowl.
4 . Print!
5. Heat set at 160 C for 1 min or air cure for 2 days before washing textiles.
Notes:
To thin paint or ink, add a few drops of water until you reach your desired paint consistency.
Let the ink/paint rest for a 5 minutes before using to ensure thourough dispersion of the pigment.
If you’re Kaji Mundo’s natural fabric medium, I usually used a small ceramic bowl to mix the ink, as the latex in the medium dries quickly.
Don’t add calcium, or strong alkalis/acids as this will cause the binder to split.
Paint:
To paint on fabric using the binder follow the steps above, however add in more water to make the binder body more fluid.
FAQ/
Can I wash my textiles?
Yes, after the paint has cured, hand wash with a mild, PH neutral soap.
How long can I keep my binder?
Kaji Mundo’s ink binder is natural. Once opened it’s best to use with a month. Unopened it will keep up to one year, depending on the climate where you live.

Use mixed colors within a few days, you can store them in the fridge to extend the shelf life if you have an ongoing project. Remember, these are living colors, over time mixed paints will start to ferment and breakdown.
